Twenty five years after he died, Elvis Presley’s album of greatest hits was the number one album in the nation. In spite of enormous success, Elvis was a very unhappy and unfulfilled human being.
His wife Priscilla once gave an interview and said this about her husband who died of obesity and drug dependency at age 42. “Elvis never came to terms with who he was meant to be or what his purpose in life was. He believed he was here for a reason, maybe to preach, maybe to serve, maybe to save, maybe to care for people. And that agonizing desire was always with him and he knew he wasn’t fulfilling it. So, he would go on stage and he wouldn’t have to think about it.”
Talking with our guests is always an eye opening experience. No matter the background, everyone I’ve met had one thing in common. None had the goal of becoming a failure. But life happens. And when things go wrong, where does one go to get relief from the pain? For many, drugs, alcohol and shallow relationships topped the list.
At Bread of Life we offer a different alternative. God has a purpose for everyone’s life. It’s a personal relationship with Him. And it’s free.
