Get Into The Game

Get Into The Game

Sir Terry Pratchett once said, “Build a man a fire and he”l be warm for a day. Set a man on fire and he’ll be warm for the rest of his life.”

It was late 1961 when God lit a match under me and said, “turn or burn.” I heard the message loud and clear and it still rings loud 57 years later. It didn’t take me long to discover a truth about my Christian faith. Jesus has a lot of fans but not many teammates. Following Jesus is much like a sporting event. 60,000 fans in the stands and only a handful of players on the field.

For me, Christianity isn’t a spectator sport. And, because I believe the stakes are so high, I need to do whatever I can, whenever I can, to hep people less fortunate than myself. I serve others because I agree with the wristband of the 90’s, WWJD (what would Jesus do?)

I love the Bread of Life because there’s so many opportunities to help our neighbors who are hurting. Everyone can pray for the people we serve and for those who help in the many services we provide. And, here’s a simple thing all of us on the internet can do. Share our website,, with your contacts list so they can read up on what we do and become aware of how they can help those in need.

Parking Lot Distribution Last Thursday of Every Month

On the last Thursday of every month, we have our large food distribution at 3:00 PM in our parking lot. The San Diego Food Bank and delivers boxes of fresh fruits and vegetables and other food products for us to distribute to the community. Anyone can come on the this day and get food. There is no registration. To avoid standing in line, you can come after 12 noon that day and get a number for your space in line and then return at 3:00 PM. We also have some amazing businesses and organizations that donate items for our distribution. Last week Aviara Oaks Elementary Library donated amazing books for us to give to our families!
